Set up the Family Portal on your phone
About 2 minutes. When you're done, the portal works like an app on your phone
and can notify you the moment a teacher messages you, new grades are posted, or school news goes out.
Before you start: use the portal link your school gave you.
Your username and password come from your school as well.
iPhone / iPad
- Open Safari (this part needs Safari — not Chrome or another browser) and go to your school's portal link.
- Tap the ⋯ button in the bottom corner, then tap Share
(the square with the up arrow). On some iPhones the Share button shows directly at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen,” then tap Add.
- From now on, open the portal by tapping the new EdRova icon on your Home Screen —
notifications only work when it's opened this way.
- Sign in with the username and password from your school.
- Tap Menu at the top, then 🔔 Notifications.
- Under “Push notifications,” tap “Enable on this device” and choose Allow when your iPhone asks.
Android
- Open Chrome and go to your school's portal link.
- Tap the ⋮ menu in the top corner and choose “Add to Home screen” (or “Install app” if offered), then confirm.
- Open the portal from the new EdRova icon and sign in.
- Tap Menu → 🔔 Notifications → “Enable on this device” → Allow.
If something doesn't look right
The “Enable on this device” button isn't there.
On iPhone it only appears when the portal was opened from the Home Screen icon — not from inside Safari.
The portal will show you a reminder with the install steps instead.
You tapped “Don't Allow” by accident.
Go to your phone's Settings → Notifications → EdRova, turn Allow Notifications on,
then tap the Enable button in the portal again.
Your iPhone is older.
Notifications need iOS 16.4 or newer (early 2023). Check Settings → General → Software Update.
Prefer email?
On the same 🔔 Notifications screen you can choose which events email you —
messages, grades, and school news are each on until you turn them off.
